The Edo State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of defacing and destroying posters of President Goodluck Jonathan and other candidates of the party across the state.
The PDP also expressed surprise at the posters of Governor Adams Oshiomhole, which it said now adorn the state capital, Benin, and other parts of the state, asking if Governor Oshiomhole was a candidate in the forthcoming general
elections.
Edo State Chairman of PDP, Chief Dan Orbih, made this known at Iguobazuwa and Ekperi in Ovia South-West and Etsako Central Local Government Areas of the state where he welcomed defectors from the APC, including a former Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Mr. Donald Osikhena Boi, to the PDP.
“They should show us what they have and allow us show what we have instead of destroying our posters. Obviously, they are afraid of showcasing their candidates, hence the use of Oshiomhole’s posters. They have, however, forgotten what Oshiomhole now stands for in Edo State.
“Today, Oshiomhole is bad news in Edo State. As we speak now, he has flown to London. We don’t understand why he flies out of the state at the slightest opportunity,” Orbih said.
Reacting to the allegation, APC State Secretary, Godwin Erhahon, said that his party was not aware of the defacing and removal of posters of PDP candidates in the state.
Other politicians who defected to the PDP at the events included Mr Ernest Omoregie, Mr David Ediovba and a former secretary of the APC in Ovia South-West Local Government Area, Mr Sunday Ebose, who joined the PDP along with his supporters.
