Premier League side Chelsea have confimed that talented young midfielder Lewis Baker will join Championship club Sheffield Wednesday on loan until the end of the season.
Baker is a product of the Chelsea academy and last season won the club’s goal of the season competition with a spectacular volley against Arsenal in the U21 League, with Baker scoring the winning goal in that competition later in the season.
He made his debut in the victory over Derby County in the FA Cup earlier in 2014 and he has been earmarked by Jose Mourinho as one of the players he wants to bring into the first team.
However, with first-team opportunities a rarity in such a lavishly assembled squad Baker has been sent out on loan to Sheffield Wednesday in order to try and get some regular football.
The club confirmed the deal and said that Baker will be available immediately for the upcoming game against Nottingham
