BENUE TRAINS 1,000 UNEMPLOYED GRADUATES IN ICT

MAKURDI—Benue State government in conjunction with the Federal Ministry of Communication Technology and Rockefeller Foundatiion, yesterday engaged 1,000 unemployed graduates in the state in a two-day Information and Communication Technology, ICT training.

Addressing participants in Makurdi, representative of the Director of e-government at the ministry, Mr. Macdonald Ekworo said the initiative was to deploy the ICT platform to provide jobs to the unemployed graduates with ICT skills.

He said the workshop was meant to expose the graduates to on-line job opportunities which they could exploit to become gainfully employed.
According to him, the partnership between the state and the Federal Government with the Rockefeller Foundation underscored the need for public private partnership which had become an imperative best international standard practice.

Also speaking, representative of the Rockefeller Foundation, Mr. Femi Kayode inspired participants with a motivational address and encouraged them to explore online opportunities in advertising, marketing, administrative support, web designing and programming as well as writing in various fields.
